Two Cook for Two - the pleasure of cooking together, recipes for 2 - together

Better relationships - cook together!

Dear Fellow Cook,

Have you ever wanted to spend more time with your spouse/partner? It can be tricky with our busy lifestyles.

Chris and I found we were spending less and less time together. We were each coming in at the end of the day, wanting to chill out and have the other cook. And then wondered why we were both getting hungry and annoyed that the other wasn't cooking...

But then we thought, "Hey, we both have to eat don't we? So, let's be fair, why don't we take it turns? Then one of us can recover from the day while the other cooks, one day cooking, then the next day we'll swap.".

So I cooked my favorite chicken recipe... we both agreed it was delicious - quick food, simple cooking, a recipe for success.

Next day I was presented with a healthy low fat meal that was good for my heart and for my taste buds... double win!

And just when we thought this might be working we ran out of steam... lost track of whose turn, too tired tonight, shall we have a take-away curry??? Have you been there yourself?

We even went as far as buying each other recipe books from our favorite chefs - Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith almost seemed to be house guests. We had recipes for everything from simple suppers to elegant entertaining menus but it wasn't quite working.

And we realised "But we're still not spending time together". And a penny dropped - if we both cooked together we'd actually be spending time together AND cooking for the other one AND chatting about our day and our plans.

It wasn't easy. Most cookbooks plan for a family meal and we wanted easy recipes for two. Even finding space in the kitchen wasn't easy - we fought over pans, equipment, chopping boards... until finally we solved the problem. A system - Two Cook For Two was born!

Pretty soon we were back on track. Our friends wanted to know how we'd done it - and it worked for them too.  Then we thought of all the other people in the same boat - people like you - so why not share it with the rest of the world?! So we did, and the result was our new book, entitled:

"Introducing Two Cook for Two".

Book cover for 'Two Cook for Two.

This is more than a collection of easy recipes. It's a way of cooking together. If you want to share time and space and the joy of cooking with someone, this book will show you how. It will keep you out of each other's way and make sure that you have time to enjoy together.

We'd love to give you this book - and for the first 1,000 people who ask, we'll let you download a copy completely free!

Gone are the days where one person slaves in the kitchen while the other watches or walks into the living room to watch the TV for an hour.

The book is structured so that you can both contribute to the cooking, without fuss, without fighting, and both enjoy a glass of wine before dinner!

Here's a snapshot of how we've laid out the book:

One of you follows the instructions with a picture of Chef1
the other follows the instructions with a picture of Chef2

When you both follow the instructions, everything comes together at the right time and it will look and feel easy.

There's no excuse for not joining in, put on your apron and, if you're feeling stylish, your hat and get stuck in!

We've already shared the book with some of our friends. Here's what some of them say:

This is a fabulous recipe book which helps to solve a very common problem.

I love the way you can work together without getting in each others way and also have time to chat. The recipes are simple but tasty and use everyday ingredients. It has a lovely clear layout with space for comments and rating the recipes so you know which ones to try again. I also love the sense of humour within the book! It brings back the fun into cooking for two.

Thought this cookbook is a brilliant idea (wish I'd thought of it!). I Think the layout and style is really good. It's easy to understand and simple to follow. I like the humour in it ('keep slicing' and the bits about getting gin and tonics, opening wine etc).

i also like the bits at the end of the recipes about giving marks out of 5 and tips for next time and there were some useful tips that I hadn't heard before.

For couples that don't cook properly a huge amount I think it's great.

Really easy format to follow. It takes the stress out of cooking and makes it into a game that has a delicious-tasting outcome. I particularly liked the Spanish-style chicken. Roll on volume 2!

I love the bit where you say "if they are still playing with the salad spinner go and make two gin & tonics!"
